An Air Compressor is a device that converts electrical energy to mechanical energy by pressurizing or compressing air. Air compressor filters are present in most models and they help prevent both short and long term problems that may arise over the course of time with regular usage. Any standard Air compressor containing Air filters have the following components: Air inlet, filter cap, filter element and filter discharge.

Air Inlet: Air is allowed through the air inlet. In order to force the air flow downwards, a cap is used. The air flows downwards in a spiral fashion creating a cyclonic action. Due to this, air and debris are directed against the walls of the internal bowl from where it flows downwards.

The Filter Cap that is used is usually made of plastic or metal. It differs depending on the manufacturer. If air flow in the air compressor unit takes place in the right direction, only then can correct filtration take place. The filter cap thus helps maintain the correct direction of the air flow.

Filter element: After the cyclonic action phase takes place, the air is passed through the filter element for further purification of the air stream before it flows towards the Filter Discharge.

The Filter Dischargeallows the flow of filtered air from the filter down to the air line to our needs and applications of the air compressor.
